Furniture made slowly, for rooms that get used.
Fernhollow started in a Jutland barn with two benches, one kiln and a stubborn idea: furniture should be repairable, not replaceable. Fifteen years later the barn is a workshop, the benches are eleven — and the idea hasn't changed.
One maker, one piece, start to finish.
No production line. Each piece is built by one maker whose initials are stamped under the seat rail — and if it ever comes back for repair, it returns to the same bench. European oak air-dries here for two years before it is allowed near a frame.
Four materials. Nothing hidden.
Solid oak, travertine, bouclé and linen, aged brass. No veneer over chipboard, no foam pretending to be feather. What you see on the surface goes all the way through — which is why a Fernhollow piece can be sanded, re-oiled, re-covered and repaired instead of replaced.
Air-dried two years
European oak rests in our timber store before it touches a frame. Dry wood doesn't move, warp or open joints.
Joined, not screwed
Mortise-and-tenon joints, glued and wedged. A Fernhollow frame carries a 10-year guarantee because it is built like one.
Oiled by hand
Hardwax oil, rubbed in, buffed off. A finish you can renew yourself in ten minutes a year — read how in our journal.
Carried in, assembled
Our own two-person teams deliver in about three weeks, place the piece where it lives, and take every scrap of packaging away.
100 nights at home
Live with it through a season of Sundays. If it is not right, we collect it free and refund you in full.
Fixed for life
4,200 pieces repaired since 2011, most back within a fortnight. We fix what we make — that is the whole business model.
